I wear this all the time and it's my signature scent literally. Who wouldn't want to smell like prada candy? It's smells sweet but has a sour after smell. I gave it away. The 2 stars was for Aesthetic. Super pretty. I got this as a sample. Honestly, I didn't even want to try it because it was sweet but it was the only one that I had on me at the time.
I fell in love. It smells mostly like vanilla on me once it's had the chance to sink in. It's also very light and fresh. I'm not sure if it's just my body chemistry but I'm not able to smell this perfume for very long.
However, people will give me compliments which has never happened with any other perfume I've tried hours later. Perfumes are tricky and interact so much with body chemistry that it's hard to guarantee it will work on everyone BUT I still highly recommend this product.
I didn't care for this perfume. It just didn't scream top tier to me. My body chemistry does not work well with it. It to light scented for me. I love he smell but it's scent doesn't last as long as other perfumes although I love he perfume it's so pretty. I couldn't wait to get this perfume! I waited a long time before I finally felt okay to spend the money on it. Sadly, after less than an hour I could no longer smell it.
I love sweet scents so I figured this would be a love and it is not! It's a powdery caramel so it doesn't exactly smell like an edible sweet. It does smell nice but the longevity and performance are absolutely horrible. But well I absolutely love it! Smells good and interesting and has a good lasting power! Have a lovely day xoxoxo.
I adore the bottle though and the packaging and tempted to buy it just for that reason. On days when you want to wear nothing offensive and need the comfort like you said Robin, I think it would be great. I tend to find Prada fragrances likeable, some more so than others but I do not find them that interesting or original in general and the same stands true for Candy. They seemed to have put the originality into the packaging.
Little disappointed as I was sort of expecting to go wow, I want this. I found this incredibly sweet — not unpleasant but it smelled, to me, exactly like cotton candy, similar to though more complex than Pink Sugar.
I was expecting something FAR sweeter and more juvenile. Does anybody know when or if it will be reaching those stores? Well, it is interesting because the first time I smelled this and wrote about it I did not like it as much as I thought I would, however, the second time I tested it I found that I really liked it.
It may have to do with it being winter and this is definitely a winter scent in my opinion but somehow even the lasting power seemed a lot better. I do definitely find this gourmand ans scent though thankfully not unbearable like Pink Sugar and it is much more complicated and faceted than that. I need to check it out again I may want to get a bottle for winter during the next sale. It would be a nice, warming comfort scent for the season.
I am still very much in love with the packaging, now that is very original and wow but I am beginning to feel more excited about the juice itself too.
Prada in general is not about the wow fact in my opinion, at least not their fragrances, they tend to be more about sophistication and quality in more of an understated way. This fragrance stands out a bit more due to being a gourmand but I guess I do like that it has many facets to it to balance out the sweetness.
I also find it a little similar to EL Sensuous Nude but much more likeable, Nude is sweeter, less interesting, less counterbalanced and more sickening to me with that heavy coconut note.
Well, I finally got this today since it has grown on me and liked it far better on skin than on paper, it seems to have great lasting power on me, which is not too sweet; mostly musk, woods, benzoin with some caramel and vanilla to make it more interesting. I was happy with the samples because I am so in love with the bottle, I do not want to ruin it and honestly you cannot carry this bottle around since it can accidentally get pushed in and sprayed into my purse.
I too think this would make a great layering scent so too bad the lotion is no good. Another perfumery here had the free travel size lotion with purchase of 50 ml and almost got that but the deal with the coupon sounded better.
I think this fragrance does feel really comforting especially in cold weather and it does seem to become sort of a part of you after a while. I still definitely prefer Love, Chloe, although to me that is not a skin scent, far more complicated and heavier but their lotion is actually lavish. My absolute favourite winter scent! Also have received compliments with this one Absolutely love it.
I am a fan of sweet fragrances but this is like an upgrade for me, it smells more complex and rich than the usual sweet celeb scents i go for. Also I have noticed that House of Fraser have gone through several 80ml tester bottles within the last few weeks so people must be attracted to this one. I know that when I saw it was out I searched desperately through the shop to find the tester. I ended up liking not loving it. It smells like cupcake batter and dries down to smell like Light Blue on me.
Overdoze of benzoin? Robin have you tried Armani Sensi? Are those two any similar? I bought a bottle of Candy today and while it clearly has some similar notes with Sensi — not quite the same thing. Sensi was more complex and resinous… But it smells almost as if it was inspired by Sensi.
Good news though — I tried layering Candy with Elixir des Merveilles and really liked the result. The saddest thing is — Buying full 80 ml bottle of Candy and ml bottle of Elixir is still cheaper than buying Sensi these days… Oh the horror of discontinuing the favorite fragrances!
Lacks elegance that other perfumes exude. I would love to know they have anything in common because that was all I smelled after a few minutes on the card! You must be logged in to post a comment. If you're a fan for caramel, you really should give it a try, and be a little bit patient to well savour it. I thought the bottle was tacky and the campaign looked silly.
But after testing the perfume my mind changed completely. It's such a playful illustration for the perfume. Originally written in As a girl who is quite obsessed with sugary sweets and products that show off my femininity, I knew I had to try Prada Candy. The name and the packaging seemed right up my alley, so I decided to give it a go.
I used the little rollerball sample you can find at the department store and walked around for a bit, letting it settle in. It's not sickeningly sweet or cloying in the least. Combined with a little bit of musk, it gives it a nice note of warmth to balance it out. As much as I'm in love with this product, it simply doesn't have impressive longevity. Once I roll it on, in multiple pulse points I might add, it only stays for a couple of hours.
However, I recently bought a full-sized bottle, and though I doubt it'll make much of a difference, I'll see how it does when it is distributed in spray form, on my skin and on my clothes. With just the rollerball, I find myself having to reapply often.
However, considering this is one of the few perfumes that I truly love a lot of perfumes are much too heavily scented for me and make me feel nauseous , the light, sugary scent of this is worth it. If you don't mind the hassle of reapplying, this really is a perfume worth looking into.
Kaizen Show all reviews by Kaizen As a guy, I was curious to check this one out, being a fan of several of the men's scents from Prada. The opening showed promise, with the characteristic camphor-like benzoin note and interesting caramel rich and sweet note. It smelled like a decent, balanced oriental lady perfume that I'd not recoil from. The musk in the drydown has the smell of, well, slight lady's body odor. It didn't come across as pleasant, but more so animalic in a somewhat undignified, unwashed way.
Too bad: At least from my pov, the musk could have been dialed back more, and the other elements could have stood out better. Granted, my experience is purely from a male perception, coming from a sample vial sprayed on my hand. Take it for what it's worth. Sure, it's sweet, but it's not any sweeter than, say, Shalimar, or most Guerlains, to be honest. It's not the least bit edgy, but its emphasis on one of the geekiest notes in perfumery is borderline subversive.
There's no fake strawberry or confected "patchouli," and the alleged caramel notes don't smell gooey. And there's no distracting vanilla. Do the little girls that buy this know or care? It gives the early stages of the perfume a nice lift before it integrates quite gracefully into the composition, so that despite its name Candy smells like perfume and never turns too foody. This stuff has a way of melting into skin and then just sort of emanating a kind of gentle softness, almost like the texture of a musk--you smell sweet, resinous skin rather than sweet, resinous aromachemicals.
And this stuff lasts, and lasts, and lasts; I have no idea what some other reviewers are talking about when they complain about its disappearing from skin. It has be olfactory fatigue, because I can still smell it at eight-plus hours.
My only complaint about Candy is a slightly plastic musk that occasionally pokes through in the middle stages of wear. But that bit of weirdness comes and goes, and eventually resolves in a drydown that restates the original resinous theme, garnished with a touch of something powdery that almost feels like iris.
Here as elsewhere i. So, overall, Candy came as a pleasant surprise. It's not complicated, but there's more to it than meets the eye, or the nose--whatever. It reminds me of Marilyn Monroe with those ridiculous glasses in How to Marry a Millionaire--all wide eyes, blonde curls, bodacious curves, and wicked timing--with her quirky intelligence simmering under the ditzy surface.
And I think the enameled bottle is kind of cute. It's a simply sweet, candy-like scent, but it's a sweetness that makes me smile and doesn't make me throw up. I find it tolerable on the sweetness scale. Very nice. Prada Candy is a frustrating example, a luscious gourmand interwoven with an intriguing smoky note that at times smells like burnt sugar and at others like stale cigarette ashes.
But the only way I can enjoy is to continually huff at my wrist. Which just looks silly in public. Edited Recently started wearing this again, and I have no idea what my initial experience with this stuff was about because now it hangs around forever.
Upgraded to a Thumbs Up. Paintedlily Show all reviews by Paintedlily. This is a pretty scent, but I do not get any caramel in this. Perhaps I'm scent blind to whatever set of chemicals make up that impression.
This has very strong powder notes with a hint of musk and a warm resinous base. If I didn't already know that there is supposed to be a candy caramel quality to this, I would have never known.
